The official dates are going to be this Friday, September 6 through Sunday, October 6. But if people need more time, that's completely ok! My own plan is ambitious enough that I might need more time myself, depending on how many Saturdays I get stuck working this month. (I already know I have to do an open-to-close shift this Saturday, and I do have a cousin's wedding to attend next Saturday, so it's not looking so good...)
I also went ahead and started a Flickr group.
I did attempt to make a button. I am a complete idiot when it comes to html, apparently,
Edit: Thanks to advice on Twitter, namely from Melissa, and this tutorial, got it working. Yay!

Since this is a looser sewalong than many, as in we're not all necessarily working on the same pattern, I'm going to work on putting up some posts that will hopefully prove helpful--fitting help, discussions relevant to certain patterns that are already out there, etc. I'm certainly going to be looking for information on the Sewaholic Thurlows, and the Colette Juniper/Clover pants--any other patterns I should look for?
Anyway, feel free to comment here and/or in the Flickr group to sign up, and let's get this rolling!
I would so join in and make me tge Thurlows I won from you, but my current project is "slimming down" and I have no idea whar size to make. Maybe next time...
ReplyDeleteThat would make it a tough challenge! But hopefully something will come out of this that will be helpful when you do get to the pattern. :)
DeleteFound you through the Sewcialists firehose, and I'm in! I've been meaning to attempt trousers for ages now, and I'm just about finished by current project, so clearly this is a sign. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat! Glad to have you in!
DeleteI am joining in and making thurlows as well - I have the pattern and some fabric so I am good to go! Immediately confused by envelope measurements as the finished measurements seem like quite a lot of ease for the actual measurements (but maybe you need that for trousers..?)
ReplyDeleteI know that you need enough ease to be able to walk and sit down! I do remember hearing and/or reading something at one point about it being ok to have a few wrinkles in the butt area, because overfitting will make it hard to sit. I haven't looked too closely at the ease on this particular pattern yet, so it's good to know there might be a lot of it. I'll have to check that out.
DeleteI'm in too... Washing wearable muslin stuff this week :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Glad to have you!
DeleteI saw your pants fitting resources post on the firehose, and that was very useful!
ReplyDeleteI just finished trousers for myself, and I'm planning to make pants for my girlfriend next. I don't think I'll be able to finish them in time. I plan on drafting the pattern myself, so I'll be lucky if I can get sewing by your deadline ;)
Nevertheless, I'm keeping an eye on things here as I have everything to learn about making pants for women :)
I'm glad you found it helpful! You have a lot more courage than I do, I'm not sure if I could ever make men's trousers. (Especially because my husband is super-picky about how he likes things to fit.)
DeleteAt the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I can even finish my wearable muslin in time myself--this has not been a good week for sewing at all. Hopefully I can catch up next week.
Wow... I MISSED this and am so glad I was reading up on what you have been up to! I JUST received my Thurlow pattern on Saturday! Perfect timing! YAY! I will have to join you even though I am quaking in my boots! ~Laurie
ReplyDeleteGreat, glad to have you! :)
