Some of you may or may not remember... awhile ago I posted that I had been asked to give sewing lessons to a friend's daughter. Her mom, a friend from my Bible study, sews quilts, but Ashley wanted to learn to use patterns. We'd talked about it so many times-- it's just that between my juggling three jobs and their family's sometimes-crazy work schedule (they operate a greenhouse that sells wholesale to garden centers, like the one I work at part-time), we were just never able to find a time to do it.
Ashley died on Friday afternoon in a boating accident. My heart is breaking for the family, of course...it's been a hard weekend for all of us in the Bible study, and in the entire church. But for myself, I wish so much now that I'd been able to find the time to give her those sewing lessons...I never forgot about them, and I was looking forward to spending the time with her because she was one of the sweetest girls ever. I know it's a small pain compared to what her family is going through, but it hurts to know that it will never happen now.
Please keep the family in your prayers and thoughts.
I'm so sorry, Becky. She was too young. I hope you and Ashley's family find peace in the coming days.
ReplyDeleteI was touched by your blog entry. All too often we put aside an opportunity to share our god given gifts with others due to other responsibilities. When it is surely god's plan that we use these solely to benefit others. Certainly, you will be given the opportunity again to pass on your gift to another and when you are you will remember Ashley as she watches from above.
ReplyDeleteLife is very precious which is why the death of young person cuts a particularly deep wound. I hope that you and her family will find a way of coming to terms with this devastating loss.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your and your community's loss Becky. I wish you peace and acceptance.
ReplyDeleteOh, so very sad. Parents should never have to bury children. My heart and prayers go to you and her family.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's so sad when someone so young dies unexpectedly. I'll put her and my family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine the pain of losing a child, particularly in an unexpected accident. My prayers and thoughts are with the family and with you.
ReplyDeleteThere is never enough time for caring and involved people to do all the things that they would like. I suspect you know that it's normal to regret things a person didn't do when someone they care for dies. Unfortunately, we are just human.
Sooo..I just hope you are feeling good about all the things you are doing for others and for yourself now. You must feel good about the crafting and sewing projects that you recently completed. Wow...car seat covers, jewelry, and 2 garments. I love the fabric that you used for the garments. Both of them look so good on you. The M5662 looks great with a camisole. You did a great fix on the S3678 dress.
I am so sorry to read what happened. Will keep you and Ashley's family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry! What a loss to the family, and to you. But remember, just the anticipation of something nice is a gift, too. You gave Ashley something nice to think about, and that's no small thing in this world.
ReplyDeleteLife is so precious. I'm so saddened by this news! I will keep you and Ashley's family in my prayers. Thanks for checking out my blog and for the birthday wishes!
